Snake plant or Mother-in-law’s Tongue (Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Hahnii’) gets its common name from its streaked, snake like tones and pointed leaves that do look a bit like they have a ‘sharp tongue’, each forming a and nest-like rosette.
It’s a very architectural plant with an upright form that makes it perfect for narrow positions.
Adaptable and hardy, it’s able to grow in very low light positions and cope with almost complete neglect! It’s great in full sun too, and is sort after for improving the air quality of interiors, foyers and lobbies, and doesn’t mind be in an air-conditioned environment.
