Eden Unearthed 2022 has officially opened! You can now visit this wonderful exhibition until April 2023.

A big thank you to all the artists for participating and creating their inspiring art. The 35 installations are all terrific to see finally come into their own. Be amazed, immersed, stirred and inspired as you walk through the garden, discovering each piece in the garden. You can hear the artists in their own words too as they talk about what moved them to make art, the stories behind each piece.

Kristy Gordon, who won the Eden Unearthed Award and $10,000 prize money explained “The videos are so great. I’m thrilled with how they have been produced and the imagery is wonderful.”

Talking about the winning work Cloudspace, Graham Forsyth, Honarary Associate Professor, UNSW Arts, Design and Architecture, & Eden Unearthed selector and judge explained "The winner of this year’s First Prize Kristy Gordon’s ‘Cloudspace’ is a work of exceptional beauty and powerful ambition. Set in the very far corner of Eden Garden’s permanent gardens, the work utilises an existing concrete circular enclosure to construct a mesmerising and luminous image of sky/water/wind surrounding a set of interpenetrating shapes. Cloudspace both invites and rewards close attention and quiet reflection, and allows us to lose ourselves in a ‘sky' which doesn’t just sit distantly over us, but which interpenetrates us, moves us, and shows us a depth and complexity to the natural environment and to our experience. In Cloudspace the inside becomes outside, the still becomes movement and the other becomes ourselves."

Congratulations to all the exhibitors and winners! Other prize winners are:
Highly Commended: Cleansing Pool, by Kathie Nadjar & After The Storm, by Wendy Joyce; The Sustainability Award: Gloria Flores Lost Habitat; The Student Award: Promises, by Ella McGaw; The Gardener’s Award: Transference, by Leanne Thompson.
