Hellebores

Also known as winter roses, hellebores are tough perennials perfect for shade and sun.  They flower throughout winter, when not much else is, making them an unexpected joy in the garden.

Hellebores grow to 60cm tall and clump to about 60cm wide.  They are ideal for planting under deciduous trees, enjoying the winter sun and summer shade.

Hellebores like good drainage and added organic matter in their soil and respond well to being mulched to keep their roots cool throughout the hotter months.
