Cymbidium Orchids

Cymbidium Orchids are one of the most beautiful and widely cultivated orchids. They are epiphytic plants that like to be pot bound with their pseudobulbs crowded together.  Cymbidium Orchids come in a fantastic range of colours from pink, orange, apricot and red to yellow, white, cream and green, flowering from May to October and lasting up to three months in unheated environments.

Position

Theygrow best in filtered light—morning sun and afternoon shade—with no direct sun and are often taken inside when flowering.

Maintenance

Water regularly but avoid splashing their flowers. Fertilise to encourage flowering from January to July with products such as Campbell’s Orchid Food A and enhance green foliage growth during the rest of the year with Campbell’s Orchid Food B.  Repot when necessary, using Orchid Potting Mix as its course, barky texture drains well.  Watch that snails don’t eat your flowering spikes as they emerge.
