Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia reginae) is a much loved flowering plant used as a cut flower thanks to its striking orange and purple beak-like blooms that give it its common name. It adds a touch of the tropics to your place, yet will also cope with light frosts.
It’s tough, coping with full sun, salt laden winds and even drought once established. It’s also useful as a container plant and thrives on not a lot… but you will need sunshine for those flowers.
