January Gardening Intro - Live More Summer Holiday

Gardening in the middle of summer can seem like a crazy thing to be doing, with high temps often making days outside impractical.  It’s hot and often humid in January, which is great growing weather, so you’ll need to be vigilant keeping weeds in check and vines under control.  Also, watch out for fungal problems and pests as now is the time when they can quickly explode in numbers to devastating effects.  And if possums are eating what remains of your crops, why not check out these tips to deter possums and other January gardening tips.

It’s a great time to DREAM BIG – and you won’t even work up a sweat with that!  Imagine a new area that you want to transform or perhaps create your own tropical paradise.  Transform your courtyard with some new garden furniture.

If you want to get started with your New Year’s Resolutions to get fit and look fabulous, gardening is great exercise.  Or if you want your lawn to have the transformation instead, read up on our summer lawn care tips.  We can even help you inside with our flower arranging workshop.

And if you’re flat out finding things to do with the kids, come into our stores and get a Vegie Pod – we’ll show you all the great crops for kids that will encourage them to eat well and grow fast enough that they’ll be ready for them to take to school in their lunch boxes.  We also have a great range of herbs perfect for the bbq, and other herbs perfect for discouraging mossies and flies, so you can enjoy the great outdoors even more this summer.
